Before coming to them, I had tried another law firm in town, and that was a total waste of money. The office staff at Mayer and Newton is friendly, helpful, non-judgmental and professional in dealing with clients. Richard, John and Kevin are very knowledgeable, helpful and extremely responsive to inquiries. If you email them a question, you can expect to get an answer within 24 hours; most of the time within 8 hours. They will guide you through the whole bankruptcy process step by step, and that is very re-assuring and comforting for someone who is experiencing the legal process for the first time. Their professional fees are remarkably reasonable, given the amount of time they have to invest in a client's case. The initial consultation is free, as are subsequent meetings leading up to the actual filing. Even my SCORE mentor who accompanied me to one of the consultations was hugely impressed. I would strongly recommend their law firm if anyone is considering bankruptcy.

After years of struggling under the burden of a debt that is designed to never be paid off, in January 2017 I made a New Year’s resolution to seek legal help. Contacting Mayer and Newton was the best decision I have ever made. They designed a Chapter 13 plan for me that was doable and destined for success. All Chapter 13 plans are difficult to pay off and require discipline. However, their vast knowledge and experience in working with their clients who have been in my situation, gave me reassurance and confidence that they could file a plan that the trustee would accept and that I could pay off in a reasonable period of time. Sure enough, 18 months later I had completed all my payments, and my plan was discharged. I will forever be grateful to Mayer and Newton and everyone on their staff who were always responsive, empathetic, and never condescending when I needed them.
