Due to the lengthy delays now in surrendering homes for foreclosure some issues arise. Taxes, insurance, home owner assessments utilities and local codes enforcement. Our clients should try to give notice to the tax entity even if they are current in a surrender situation and the homeowners association. They can cancel homeowners after they move or simply not renew the policy. They are not liable for accrued taxes, homeowner fees, deterioration of the property or other items if they surrender.
